Since 1978, Montrose Counseling Center, a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization, has been providing culturally affirming, quality and affordable outpatient mental health, chemical dependency and case management services, education and research primarily for and about Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and Transgender people, people living with HIV disease, and their significant others.

MCC has a professional staff consisting of 25 masters level Psychotherapists, 5 Licensed Chemical Dependency Counselors, a PhD Psychologist as a consultant, and psychiatry services available through a psychiatry resident from Baylor College of Medicine. All direct service staff are trained in Motivational Interviewing and Stages of Change for assisting clients in determining their readiness for counseling and treatment services. Prevention and Intervention staff are trained and certified in counseling techniques used to assess risk behaviors for HIV before testing and coping with a positive test. The Executive Director holds a PhD in Public Health with a concentration in Management and Policy Science and Ethics and has been managing the organization since 1988.
The Board of Directors of MCC has a wide array of representatives from the community who act as stewards of donated and contracted funds and assuring that programs stay true to MCC's mission. Members of the Board include professionals in the areas of psychiatry, other areas of medicine, information technology, accounting, law, human resources and corporate and small business.
